Good news for all the Ford fans in the country. The company saw substantially declining sales figures in December 2020 but it has bounced back and how. In January 2021, Ford sold over 4,100 units as compared to a mere 1,662 units in December 2020. This marks a growth of over 149% on an MoM basis. This indicates the recent trend of sales in India. The key contributor still remains the EcoSport, which is the volume-driver for the brand in India. Ford – Sales Figures for January 2021
Ford has had a very challenging 2020, like all the other carmakers. But this was especially true for Ford considering many future long-term plans, as a result of Joint Venture (JV) with Mahindra, had to be called off. This was done due to different financial investment priorities for the post-covid era. This might have affected Ford more, but the already co-development projects with Mahindra were not affected by this JV annulment. Taking all these factors into account, the recovery for Ford in January is quite remarkable.
