Mahindra XUV300 received an automatic transmission recently and now competes against the rivals with all guns blazing. A petrol automatic was the only weapon missing in its arsenal. But now that it comes with an AMT gearbox, we shall compare it to the other popular automatic compact SUV, the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza AT. Also, we will take a look at all the modern comfort and convenience features, prices and driving impressions related to each of them. Mahindra XUV300 vs Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza – Exteriors and Dimensions
Both of these products belong to the same compact SUV segment and hence, the dimensions are more or less the same. The looks and design language, however, could not be more different. The Brezza has this boxy tall stance, that makes it rather appealing. The front grille is kept busy with a thick chrome slab, connecting the front LED projector headlamp units. There is a bit of chrome treating inside the headlamp cluster as well. The LED fog lamps are housed separately on the lower end of the bumper. The LED wrap-around tail lamps along with a chrome bar at the rear make it look modern. The rear also comes equipped with a spoiler and roof rails which makes it look really sporty.
The Mahindra XUV300 on the other hand pretty much stands out from the crowd with its striking 7-shaped LED DRLs and sleek automatic project headlamps. The flat bonnet gives it great visibility from the driver’s seat and the 17-inch alloys do give a tall stance and sporty appeal. The real is illuminated by the LED tail lamps. If we have to pick a winner in terms of looks, it has to the Mahindra XUV300.

From the table above, it is quite evident that the XUV300 is wider than the Brezza, along with a longer wheelbase. Both these factors contribute to the rear sear comfort with plenty of width and legroom for the rear passengers. The only critical aspect of the XUV300 is the substantially smaller luggage compartment. That is a compromise to enable tons of space for the second row.

While there is not much to choose between the manual variants of the two, Vitara Brezza does have a slight edge in terms of the mileage.

This is the only change and point of real comparison between the two petrol automatics. Since the Vitara Brezza does not come with a diesel powertrain, we will keep that out of the comparison for now. The Mahindra XUV300 clearly has a much powerful and punchy engine than the Brezza and it does show on the road as well. While Brezza gets a 4-speed transmission compared to a 6 speed unit on the XUV300, but the smooth shifts of the torque converter and wide gear ratios among the gears give it a very easy driveability and power delivery. The 6-speed AMT of the XUV300 on the other hand also feels smooth enough, there are no pronounced head nods, but you feel the gearshifts, as there is a slight pause in power during gear shifts with the AMT setup. But it is still very much agile to drive because of the plenty of torque its turbocharged engine has on tap. Higher torque lets the XUV300 hold on to the gears that bit longer and frequent, jerky gearshifts are avoided for the most part. There is an option of operating both the transmissions in manual mode as well.
If I have to tell you which is better for you, I would say pick Brezza if you like a smooth driving experience and pick XUV300 for an exciting one.

Mahindra XUV300 vs Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza – Price and Verdict
The Mahindra XUV300 petrol automatic variants costs between Rs 9.95 lakh and Rs 11.76 lakh, ex-showroom. On the other hand, the Vitara Brezza AMT version ranges from Rs 9.85 lakh to Rs 11.20 lakh, ex-showroom. The positives of the Vitara Brezza include a practical cabin space especially in the boot decent mileage and a bit lower price point. The XUV300, on the other, hand offers far better performance, interiors, features, and safety. Although it is a tad bit expensive than the Brezza, we still think it is not much of a difference for all the additional benefits you get. Our pick for this comparison is the Mahindra XUV300 but you can’t really go wrong even if you go for the Brezza.
