New-Gen Honda HR-V Patented Images Leaked Online – Creta, Seltos-Rival!

An SUV that is making a lot of headlines lately, is the new-gen Honda HR-V. About to debut in the international markets after launching in Japan, speculations are that it might launch in India as well. The last-gen HR-V was slated to launch in India as well, but there was a last-minute cancellation of the plans. Since then, it is expected that this gen model might actually make it to India. But that is in the future. What we know now is that the patent images have been leaked online. What seems likely from the images is that the design will be typically Honda and it will be placed in the mid-size SUV segment in India. Let us take a look at what to expect from the HR-V based on what it offers internationally.

Honda HR-V – Exterior and Interior Design

The images clearly show that Honda is going for a coupe-like design, which is getting common day-by-day. The side profile accentuates the sloping roofline and makes the SUV look longer and sharper. On the front, the design of the bonnet is somewhat similar to the design language followed by other Honda models, even in India. There is a large grille upfront and the overall tall stance provides the SUV a sporty look. The sharp LED headlamps and skid plates under the front bumper also make the overall design language modern. The side view shows the incorporation of the rear door handle on the C-Pillar, also a common trend these days. The wraparound tail lamps joined together by probably a chrome bar or a blacked-out glass bar gives the rear a wider appearance. The skid plates seem to make an appearance on the rear bumper as well.

Although there has been no mention of the interiors and features the HR-V might come with, we still expect all the standard equipment like a large Digital Touchscreen Infotainment System with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Steering Controls, Voice Commands, Electric Sunroof, Digital Instrument Cluster, redesinged dashboard and much more.

Honda HR-V – Engine and Transmission

The powertrain options follow a very diverse path when it comes to Honda products. There are a few powertrain options on offer including a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.0-litre turbo petrol with and without the mild-hybrid setup. Interestingly, the new Honda City also has this powertrain with the mild hybrid option. Then on the diesel front, we might expect a 1.5-litre unit. All the powertrains might come with either a 6-speed manual or an automatic transmission. We can expect that City to launch in India very soon as well. Once launched in India, it will go up against the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Harrier and MG Hector.
