2021 Mahindra XUV500 Diesel AT Spied Testing – Expected Launch Soon!

The next-gen Mahindra XUV500 has been in the works for a long time now and we have seen the spy shots of it a few times. This time around as well we have come across some camouflaged images of the upcoming 7-seat SUV from Mahindra. We have already shown you the spied interiors of the XUV500, which were leaked online just a couple of weeks ago. Now the exterior dimensions of the XUV500 are getting clearer day by day. However, the actual launch of the XUV500 may be delayed due to the semi-conductor supply shortage as Mahindra had announced earlier. The entire industry is suffering from a shortage of semi-conductors around the globe. We just hope that things get better soon so that we are able to have these new launches from carmakers very soon. 2021 is supposed to be the year to recover quickly from the aftermath of the pandemic. With plenty of launches this year, we can’t wait to see the XUV500 in flesh and compete in a new segment created by Safari and Hector Plus.

We are getting accustomed to the bold and modern designing from Mahindra for all its products and we certainly are prepared for this too. The camouflaged stickers do reveal a large C-shaped LED headlamp unit, chrome inserted patterns on the front slated grille, sporty bumpers with fog lamps and large sporty alloys. The rear will carry on the LED tail lamps tradition from Mahindra like in the XUV300 as well. The overall dimensions of the updated XUV500 are likely to remain similar to the outgoing model but there will be a lot of premium features and cabin equipment.

In terms of engine, it will be exciting because of the introduction of a new family of mStallion engines in the Mahindra family. The XUV500 will get the most powerful engine developed by Mahindra. This will be a 2.0-litre turbocharged gasoline direct injection engine producing a colossal 190hp and 380Nm. This engine will make the XUV500 the most powerful SUV in its segment. It is likely to come also in a diesel guise with a 2.0-litre diesel engine. The transmission options include a 6-speed manual or an automatic. However, the only point of worry for Mahindra at the moment is the delay in manufacturing due to the global semi-conductor shortage. That is likely to affect Mahindra’s launch plans.

2021 Mahindra XUV500 – Expected Prices and Competition

The Mahindra XUV500 will be a 7-seat SUV from the carmaker with all the latest features and conveniences, along with powerful modern engines. We expect the price range to remain between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 21 lakh, ex-showroom. This will put the XUV500 exactly in the sweet spot to compete against the likes of Tata Safari and MG Hector Plus. These two will be its direct and major rivals that have shown positive sales for the month of February. It will be interesting to watch if Mahindra XUV500 could grab some market share from these two popular 7-seat SUVs.
