MINI has launched the new Countryman in India at a starting price of Rs 39.50 lakh, ex-showroom. The Countryman was spotted testing earlier as well and the launch was much awaited for the MINI customers. The good news is that it remains true to its design language and commitment to offer a Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV), which can be a lifestyle product, as well as gives you a ton of performance out on the highway. It can also be taken to some off-roading tracks once in a while. With the powerful engines, peppy drive and ton of modern connectivity and convenience features, the MINI has it all covered to be a product of 2021. Let us take a look in detail at what all it has to offer.

2021 MINI Countryman – Exterior
Looking from the outside, the new model doesn’t look too different from the outgoing model. But that is generally the case with luxury carmakers. They stick to their DNA and heritage which has always worked for them. The Countryman is no different. Having said that, there are a fair few changes to the outside including redesign front and rear bumpers, LED haedlamps, new radiator grille, contrasting roof, a bold and stylish looking 17-inch Imprint Spoke alloy wheels (in S variant and 18-inch alloys in S JCW Edition), Roof rails in satin-finished aluminium, LED tail lamps with Union Jack style, dual exhaust tip with chrome finish, rear sporty skid plates. These styling elements do give the Countryman a distinct appearance. When you are out on the road, your Countryman will not be confused with anything else.

2021 MINI Countryman – Interior and Features
The interior of the Countryman has become modern, as is expected in this day and age. It comes with all the bells and whistles now to appeal to the customers. To start off, there is the typical round-shaped touch to almost everything inside. The large 8.8-inch Digital Touchscreen Infotainment System (6.5-inch in the S version) surrounded by an LED round ring gives the centre console an extremely modern appearance. Other features include Wireless charging, SMartphone connectivity, Leather-wrapped Steering Wheel, Panoramic Glass Sunroof, MINI Navigation System, Multi-functional Fully Digital Instrument Cluster Display, Harmon Kardon HiFi Audio System, Head-up Display, Powered Tailgate operation, Brown or Grey upholstery on the door panels, Armrest Surfaces and Knee Pads under the dashboard give the interior a premium feel. The Countryman boasts of the large 450-litre boot space which could be expanded to a colossal 1,390-litre by very practical 40:20:40 rear seat split.
Other premium convenience features include a unique Picnic Bench for 2 that comes out of the luggage compartment for when you want to sit outdoors and a Comfort Access System for the boot operation by waving your foot under the rear bumper. On the safety front, there are 2 Airbags, ABS with EBD and Corner Braking Control, Dynamic Stability Program, 3-point seatbelts for all seats, Crash Sensor, Run-flat Indicator.

2021 MINI Countryman – Engine and Prices
The MINI Countryman comes with a powerful 2.0-litre twin-turbo petrol engine which makes 192hp and 280Nm. This engine comes mated to a 7-speed Dual Clutch transmission with sporty gearshifts which propels the car from 0-100 kmph in just 7.5 seconds with the top speed of 225 kmph. There are various drives modes to choose from including sports which sharpen up the responses from engine and transmission to give an exhilarating driving thrill. TO add to that the S JCW Edition comes with paddle shifters for greater control. There are two variants on offer, the S and S JCW Edition which cost Rs 39.50 lakh and Rs 43.40 lakh, ex-showroom respectively. Customers booking their MINIs till June 2021 can avail of an “Absolute Value” package to enhance the ownership experience. This package will cover a variety of services like Service Inclusive Plus, Repair Inclusive, Assured Buyback Value and much more.
