Toyota Witnesses 36% Sales Growth YoY – Innova The Top-Seller, Fortuner Sells Over 2,000 Units!

The sales numbers for the month of February are out and they paint a positive overall picture for the Indian automobile industry. The market seems to be coming back on track in terms of sales, as well as, growth trajectory. In the last month, in particular, almost all the carmakers showed positive growth and a substantial rise in car sales. Staying with Toyota, it saw a remarkable 36% growth in sales for February. Whereas in February of last year, Toyota sold over 10,300 units, it manages to surpass that to over 14,000 units. The reasons are simple, that people are starting to invest in personal mobility again after a forgettable 2020. It must also be mentioned here, that over 38% of Toyota’s sales came from rebadged Maruti Suzuki products, including the Glanza and Urban Cruiser. This amounts to almost 5,300 units of these two products alone.

The badge engineering has worked wonders for Toyota. Month after month, the major chunk of sales came from Maruti-sourced products. This time is no different. However, it is becoming less and less which means that the boost that Toyota needed as a brand in India has been successful. Now that sales are coming from the original Toyota products. A total of just under 5,300 units out of (14,000 units) of Glanza and Urban Cruiser (combined) were sold in February by Toyota.
