Volkswagen has revealed a sporty-looking Sportline trim for the top end of its Transport T6.1 range, offering a number of upgrades both outside and in to give the van a more purposeful style.
It joins a growing market for sporty vans, and so will compete against rivals such as the Ford Transit Custom MS-RT.
This new model is based on the current Highline luxury trim. At the front a red contrast grille strip runs between the headlights, while a spoiler sits at the trailing edge of the roof, and there are also illuminated side bars. In addition, there’s a new design of 18-inch alloy wheels.
The suspension has also been lowered by 30mm, a move which VW says means that the Transporter Sportline should also field more responsive handling than other members of the T6.1 line-up.
Inside, the enhancements include seats trimmed in a combination of Nappa leather and suede for the heated front seats, and there’s also a DAB radio, climate control and a central touchscreen with sat-nav as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A digital cockpit display also keeps the driver fully informed.
Standard LED headlights show the way ahead, and a rearview camera helps when reversing.
New exterior colours include Indium Grey, Fortana Red, Ravenna Blue and Copper Bronze. However, VW is also releasing a Sportline Black Edition, which will offer special decals, black alloy wheels, tinted glass and Eibach coilover suspension.
The Sportline trim will be available on both the short- and long-wheelbase versions of the van, as well as both the Kombi or panel van options. Prices for the Transporter T6.1 Sportline will kick off from £42,940 excluding VAT.
