Citroen has entered the Indian market with its very first product in the shape of C5 Aircross earlier and the deliveries of the same have commenced. The C5 Aircross belongs to the luxury SUV segment in India with the brand’s prime focus of offering the Indian customers plenty of comfort, conveniences and luxury. That was the strategy adopted by the French carmaker to establish the DNA of its brand in our market. But in order to have sustained and long-term business plans, every carmaker looks for large volumes for its products. That is the reason that Citroen is coming up with a compact SUV in our market in order to get in the thick of sales in one of the most popular and fastest-growing car segments in the country. With almost all the major players already in the segment, Citroen might have the last mover’s advantage. With heavy localisation, it will be able to keep the costs in check, which is already something the Indian customers take very seriously. With these latest spy shots, let us see what to expect from the compact SUV from Citroen which is codenamed CC21 currently.

Citroen CC21 – Expected Exteriors
While the test mule spotted on the roads was completely camouflaged, there is a distinct design language of brand Citroen which will be on display on the CC21 as well. We expect features like a bold front end with LED headlamps with DRLs, squared-theme all over the exterior including the front bumpers and side body panels. There will a set of alloy wheels and possibly the roof rails to give it that crossover look. The rear might also feature LED tail lamps, roof spoiler and that square theme on the bumper. The CC21 is likely to be more of a crossover than a proper SUV. That is true for its international model as well. The dimensions will be under 4m in length to avail of the tax benefits to keep the costs in check.

Citroen CC21 – Expected Interiors and Features
Although not a lot has been revealed regarding the interiors of the Citrone CC21, there were a few spy shots earlier which tell us a few things about the cabin features. The spy images clearly show that the compact SUV will feature a free-standing large Digital Touchscreen Infotainment System. We expect that it will come with all the connectivity features including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, Connected CarTech, Multi-purpose Steering Wheel with square design cues and much more. We also expect the continuation of the square theme all across the outside and the inside. This might be the dual-screen setup like we have been seeing on modern cars which gives the cabin a premium feel. Also, in order to compete with the rivals, Citroen needs to pack the CC21 with a lot of new goodies and still manage to keep the costs in check.

Citroen CC21 – Expected Engines, Prices and Rivals
CC21 will most likely come with a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine, making a healthy 130 hp. The transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and an automatic. These could be the best-in-segment power output figures but Mahindra XUV300 Sport will feature the new-gen direct injection turbo petrol engine from Mahindra’s mStallion family which will make similar power. Being a compact SUV, the CC21 will take on the likes of Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite. The prices are likely to be very competitive to take on the competition and we expect the prices range of Rs 7 lakh to Rs 12 lakh, ex-showroom. The launch is likely to take place before the end of this year.
