Tata Motors On Track For 10% Market Share Soon – All Products Contribute More Than 2,000 Units To The Sales!

If we want to talk about an all-around player in the Indian automobile industry apart from the obvious giants, Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai, it has to be the homegrown brand, Tata motors. It has seen an exponential increase in sales regularly MoM for the past year or so. The month of March was no different. Tata Motors sold over 29,600 units in March compared to over 27,200 units in February 2021, which was already quite impressive and positive. This marks a 9 % growth in sales on an MoM basis. This could be attributed to all the products from the OEM, with each and every product achieving at least over 2,000 sales in March. Also, the revival of the iconic Safari has garnered a lot of interest from loyal fans from a decade ago. Let us take a look at how the individual products performed in March.

Tata Nexon – 8,683 Units

The most popular Tata product in the country is the compact SUV, Nexon which is also the chief contributor to the overall sales of Tata. For the month of March, Tata sold over 8,600 units of the Nexon compared to just over 7,900 units in the month prior to that. This is a healthy 9% increase in sales MoM. The 5-star safety rating, bold and muscular looks and modern features are some of the highlights of the compact SUV, which has attracted a ton of people toward it.

Tata Altroz – 7,550 Units

The only 5-star safety-rated hatchback in the country, Tata Altroz is also one of the most promising products for the carmaker. It is the only one that has given some competition to the popular Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Hyundai i20. With its striking looks, latest connectivity features and brilliant safety equipment, many customers choose the Altroz by default in this segment. In March 2021, Tata sold over 8,600 units of the premium hatchback compared to over 7,900 a month before. This is a 10% increase in sales in just one month.

Tata Tiago – 6,893 Units

Another mid-size hatchback that has gained some popularity in the Indian automobile market is the Tiago. Tata has equipped the Tiago with plenty of convenience features including the recently added AMT variant which is why people consider it an affordable and decent choice. Tata sold over 6,800 units of the Tiago in March compared to just under 6,800 units in February. The sales have been stable for the Tiago MoM.

Tata Harrier – 2,284 Units

The premium mid-size SUV from Tata, the Harrier, also regularly features in the list of successful Tata products month after month. Premium interiors along with modern features make sure that the Harrier is a go-to choice for a lot of people to sort out their demands for a bold-looking SUV. In March 2021, Tata Motors sold over 2,200 units of the Harrier and in February, it sold just over 2,000 units, marking a massive 13% growth in sales month-over-month.

Tata Safari – 2,148 Units

The newest entry into the Tata family is also one of the oldest products in its India journey. The Safari was reincarnated just a couple of months ago and it is already featuring in the charts. The flagship offering from Tata Motors offers a 6/7 seat arrangement along with all the modern convenience and connectivity features, as one would expect of Tata. In March 2021, Tata managed to sell over 2,100 units of the Safari compared to just over 1,700 units in February 2021. This is over 20% growth in sales on an MoM basis.

Tata Tigor – 2,097 Units

The mid-size sedan offering from Tata Motors is also a popular product in its segment. In the month of March this year, Tata sold over 2,000 units of Tigor in India compared to just under 2,000 products in February 2021. Tata keeps refreshing the variants of the Tiago and Tigor to keep the customers interested and hence, it enjoys such performances from all its products.

Tata Motors has planned to launch a micro-SUV this year in our market which was showcased in the Auto Expo 2020 as the Hornbill (HBX). This will rival the likes of Renault Kwid, Maruti Suzuki S-Presso and Ignis once launched. With that, Tata aims to achieve a 10% market share in our market by the end of FY22.
