Volkswagen is going through a series of updates in its fleet of successful products. We had recently seen the new-gen Polo unveiled by the German carmaker and the GTI will be based on this version of the Polo, as is always the case. However, the GTI variants are full-blown hardcore performance hatchbacks that are renowned around the world. As a matter of fact, the VW Polo GTI, Honda Type-R and Hyundai i20 N are some of the most popular performance hatchbacks in the world. The VW Polo GTI is supposed to launch sometime around June 2021 and the official design sketches have been released. Therefore, let us discuss, in detail, what the sketches show along with what to expect from the GTI.

2021 Volkswagen Polo GTI – Design Sketches
The design sketches of the Polo GTI reveal that the exteriors will likely be inspired by the new Polo and there will be new elements to distinguish it from the regular Polo. This means that the front profile of the GTI will feature an LED strip running across the breadth of the front grille joining the LED headlamps with IQ Light Technology. THe bumper down below is also large and broad with LED fog lamp unit housed on both sides. The shark creases on the bonnet are the typical characteristics of the brand and extent to the side profile as well. THere are large alloys wheels whihc will be low profile being a performace hatchback for better grip and handing. THat is one of the most important aspects of any perfroamnce vehicle of any segment. All-in-all, the VW Polo GTI will look almost like the previous models but disntinctly modern and fresh to make it look the time we live in.

2021 Volkswagen Polo GTI – Expected Interiors
While one always concerns himself/herself with the specifications of the vehicle in this segment, it must be realized that people, nowadays, also want at least some quality interiors along with modern amenities and features. Gone are the days when the driving enthusiasts just wanted a fast and exciting car alone. Keeping that in mind, we do expect high-quality interiors along with all the modern connected and the latest infotainment features to make the cabin experience rich as well. The practicalty aspects will also be taken care of with the new Polo GTI.

2021 Volkswagen Polo GTI – Engines and Transmissions
The most relevant aspect of any performance car is the specifications and technology which will enhance the driving experience. To make sure that the GTI badge is justified, Volkswagen has equipped the GTI with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine making 203 hp. This power figure in a hatchback clearly shows the capabilities that this car will possess and why it has earned the tag of being one of the world’s most powerful and popular performance hatchbacks. To complement this engine, there is a quick-shifting and very capable DSG (Dual Clutch Transmission) gearbox to ensure a smooth and responsive drive. There might also be the inclusion of level 2 advanced driving assistance features. What the Polo GTI exactly comes equipped with, will be known at the time of official unveiling in June 2021. There is no news on whether VW planes to bring this performance hatchback to India anytime soon.
