Mahindra and Mahindra is the fourth-largest car manufacturer in the country with a market share of around 6.4%. This figure is growing constantly thanks to some of the popular SUVs from Mahindra. Mahindra has made itself an exclusively SUV brand after observing the growing trend of the SUVs globally. In a bid to manufacture and sell the popular SUVs only, Mahindra has decided to part ways with a few of its not-so-successful products. This includes products like the Marazzo and KUV100. Also, the Alturas G4 is not doing particularly well either and Mahindra might pull the plug on it anytime as well. On the other hand, Mahindra is planning to introduce new products in popular segments to grab more market share for itself and manufacture new SUVs that will likely be more popular than the aforementioned ones. Let us look at what these changes are in a little detail.

Mahindra Marazzo and KUV100 Discontinued
According to the sales figures for the month of April 2021, Mahindra sold a mere 161 units of the Marazzo in our market. Its rivals in the form of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Toyota Innova Crysta sold over 8,600 and 3,600 units respectively. One can clearly see the colossal gap between the sales of these three products. It has been more or less the same every month. Therefore, to scrap the Marazzo shouldn’t have been a tough decision for Mahindra in the least.

The same is the case with the KUV100 which sold a disappointing 5 units in the month of April 2021 compared to an embarrassing 1 unit in March 2021. We might see the KUV100 continue in the form of a micro-SUV EV for city use. There, clearly, is no point in continuing with these products when Mahindra can shift its focus and resources towards developing far more popular products in the form of new Scorpio, XUV700 and the likes.

Mahindra XUV500 to be introduced as Creta-rival

The current-gen XUV500 will be replaced by the upcoming XUV700, which is slated for launch around the festive season in 2021. The mid-size SUV segment is growing exponentially and this trend is likely to continue in times to come. Mahindra XUV500 might be launched by 2024.
