The most popular executive sedan in our market features a modern and stylish appearance. The front fascia of the City hosts a thick chrome front grille joining the headlamps which give a distinct character to the sedan, Full-LED Headlamp Cluster with LED DRLs, Sporty Front Bumpers with LED Fog Lamp Housing and a Sculpted Bonnet Line. The Toyota Yaris carries the looks from the now discontinued Corolla Altis which was a decent-looking premium sedan. The front features the sleek and modern Auto Projector Headlamps connected by the Toyota logo at the centre, LED DRLs, the headlamps are swept back making the front look wider, a broad front grille, sporty bumper housing the fog lamps at the two ends. The side profile has been kept plain, Chrome Outside Door Handles and has the 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. The rear hosts the flowing and curved taillamps stretching to the sides, sporty bumper, shark fin antenna and much more.

Being longer, the City ensures that this gets translated into a longer wheelbase as well which means that there is more space on the inside of the City. Even the boot of the City is a bit larger than that of the Yaris. City is definitely the more spacious and therefore, practical of the two.

The Honda City comes with a 1.5-litre petrol engine making 121 PS of peak power and 145 Nm of peak torque. This engine comes mated to either a 6-speed manual or a CVT transmission. The other powertrain includes a 1.5-litre diesel engine making 100 PS of peak power and 200 Nm of peak torque with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The fifth-generation Honda City starts at Rs 10.99 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 14.94 lakh, ex-showroom.

The Toyota Yaris comes with a sole 1.5-litre petrol engine making 107 PS and 140 Nm mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed CVT automatic transmission. There is no diesel engine on offer. The prices of the Toyota Yaris start at Rs 9.16 lakh and go all the way up to Rs 14.60 lakh, ex-showroom.

It is not an easy job to choose one winner from these two promising executive sedans. Both these sedans are different and offer a variety of features and conveniences. If you are someone who is looking for multiple powertrain options, great and refined petrol engine and a ton of other features, you might opt for the Honda City. However, if you want something which is low on maintenance and comes with a bit more safety equipment, you can go for the Yaris. With the news of the Yaris potentially being discontinued, there might be exciting offers of the few models that are currently on sale.
