Renault Triber MPV Scores A 4-Star Safety Rating At Global NCAP!

The trend of Global NCAP Ratings is becoming more and more relevant day by day in our market. The customers have started taking the safety rating of a car into consideration while buying a new vehicle. This is essential as more and more laws are also being made to ensure the safety of the passengers and pedestrians on the roads. This is done to ensure better safety on roads and a reduction in road accidents and their consequences. Ministry of Road Transport and Highways had recently announced that it now mandatory for all the new cars to come with a Dual-Airbag setup as standard across the entire range of their products. At a time like this, it is important that the OEMs make a quality product that is safe and secure. The latest Indian product to feature in the GLobal NCAP is the Renault Triber MPV which has managed to secure a respectable 4 stars.

Renault Triber – 4-Star Global NCAP Rating

Renault Triber is one of the most popular budget MPVs in our market and has brought in a ton of sales for the French carmaker. It was a good day at the Global NCAP for the Triber as it managed to secure a 4-star safety rating in the adult protection aspect. The protection offered for the driver and passenger head and neck was deemed good, driver’s chest was showed marginal protection, the passenger’s chest showed adequate protection, driver’s knees were declared marginal protection, while the passenger’s knee showed good protection. The Footwell area of the Triber was rated as stable although the bodyshell was rated unstable which means that it was not capable of withstanding further loads. All these factors contribute towards a 4-star safety rating for adult protection.

The Triber also secured a 3-star safety rating for child occupancy protection. The MPV does not offer ISOFIX child seat mounts and that could be the reason for scoring just 3 stars. The child protection was great when the child carrier was facing backward with the adult seatbelt but the safety was not enough when the child carrier was facing forward. The overall score for the child occupant protection was 29 out of a possible 49.

Renault Triber – Engines, Transmissions and Prices

The popular MPV comes with a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine making 71 hp and 96 Nm. This engine can be had with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT Automatic Transmission. The most compelling part of buying the Triber is its practicality of offering a 7-seat arrangement at this price point. The Renault Triber starts at Rs 5.30 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 7.82 lakh, ex-showroom. At this price point, there is no direct competitor to Triber as a result of which, it has been witnessing consistent sales. Also, the Triber is based on the same platform as the Kiger nad Nissan Magnite which might mean that these two compact SUVs might well have a decent safety rating as well.
