Upcoming VW Vento (Virtus) Spotted Undisguised – What To Expect From The City, Verna Rival?

Volkswagen may well be focusing all its energy and resources on launching its make or break mid-size SUV, Taigun in our market, but there are other products in its fleet as well, that await a generation update. The Verna and City rival will likely be inspired by the VW Virtus that sells in some of the international markets. The current-gen Vento is evidently outdated and in order to keep up with the likes of City and Verna, is in dire need of a complete makeover. It has been spotted testing in the past as well but this time around the images show an undisguised version of the Vento (Virtus). Let us discuss what these images reveal and also other expectations from the mid-size sedan.

VW Vento (Virtus) – Spy Images

The images are quite clear and the overall exterior design is vividly visible. The dimensions of the Virtus are most likely to be larger than the current model in every aspect. The front end features a typical VW headlamp unit which looks quite traditional. However, there might be modern technology offered with them along with a modern chrome insert on the front grille, sporty bumper, fog lamps and sculpted bonnet lines. The side profile features characteristic sharp creases across the body panel and stylish alloy wheels. The rear houses the split taillamp setup with a sharp boot lid integrated boot lid spoiler and sporty bumper. Overall, the Virtus will be unmistakably Volkswagen but will fair bit of modern elements.

VW Vento (Virtus) – Expected Interiors and Features

The interior of the Vento will be a lot modern than the outgoing version. VW has always been relatively simplistic in terms of the interior design of their vehicles, especially in India. This is, however, expected to change with this model. Although, the quality will surely be top-notch. The new 2021 Volkswagen Vento will surely come with a larger Digital Touchscreen Infotainment System with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Digital Instrument Cluster, Steering-mounted Controls, Cruise Control and plenty of safety kit. The boot space will also be decent. Overall, the interior will be sophisticated and relatively simple, as compared to some of the modern cars. There will be plenty of safety kit on offer as well, which is something that VW takes very seriously.

VW Vento (Virtus) – Expected Powertrains and Prices

VW has introduced its TSI engines in India for all of its products. These are the modern turbo petrol engines with direct injection technology. There are 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre engine options. We expect that the new Vento will come with a 1.0-litre TSI engine making 115 PS and 175 Nm. The transmission options will include a 6-speed manual or an automatic gearbox. There might be a more powerful 1.5-litre TSI engine for the higher-spec variant. If VW decides to do that or not remains to be seen. The expected prices for a sedan of this segment are around Rs 10 lakh to Rs 15 lakh and that is what we expect VW to go with. The direct rivals for the Vento will be the highest-selling executive sedan of 2020, Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Skoda Rapid and Toyota Yaris. It will be an exciting competition to watch and to see how well people receive the Vento.
