The updated 2021 Tigor EV (Xpress-T EV) has been revealed by Tata Motors with updated features and specs. Tata Motors is in the process of many launches at the moment. Recently, it launched the Dark Editions of Nexon, Nexon EV, Altroz and Harrier. All of these contribute significantly to the sales. Taking the EV segment into consideration, they have updated the Tigor EV (Xpress-T EV) for the fleet department as well. Tata is slowly trying to capture the budget/entry-level EV market segment in India as well. It knows the value of this future-oriented powertrain solution. Also, Tata Powers is heavily investing in developing charging infrastructure in the country for the quick adoption of EVs. Let us, for now, look at what this updated Tigor EV brings with it.

2021 Tata Tigor EV (Xpress-T EV) – Exteriors
The overall silhouette of the Tigor EV remains almost identical to the pre-facelift and regular models. Still, there are a couple of key changes to distinguish it from the current-gen models. This includes an enclosed grille with blue highlights (similar to other Tata products in the EV segment), an integrated charging socket inside the front “grille” along with the typical tri-arrow pattern which is a trademark of Tata designers. Also, there are LED taillamps making it look modern. The blue highlights on the outside and inside are the primary sign of it being an EV.

Interiors and Features
While the overall interior layout remains similar to the regular Tigor, there are blue inserts to let you know that it requires no fuel to run. The feature list is quite comprehensive for an EV of this price point. This includes things like Digital Touchscreen Infotainment System, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth Connectivity, Harmon-Source Audio System, Automatic Climate Control, Multiple Drive Modes, 14-inch Alloy Wheels, Electrically Adjustable Wing Mirrors and much more. On the safety front, the standard features include Dual Airbags, ABS with EBD, Rear Parking Sensors, Seatbelt Reminder and more.

Specs
The updated Tigor EV (Xpress-T EV) has the option of two powertrains. The regular unit has a 16.5 kWh battery pack and the range extender has a 21.5 kWh battery pack. These develop around 41 hp and 105 Nm of peak power and torque respectively. The ARAI claimed range of the smaller unit is 165 km (up from 143 km previously) and for the range extender 213 km. With the fast charger, the 0-80% charge gets completed in 90 mins (in regular) and 110 mins (in extended range). This powers the 70-Volt 3-phase Induction Motor. Tata aims to popularize the Tigor EV among the fleet operators. The current prices start at Rs 9.58 lakh and go up to Rs 9.90 lakh, ex-showroom.
