However, these do have powerful engines which make them not so bad on-road either. Ford Bronco is in its latest avatar. The Wrangler is the iconic SUV from the American carmaker. It is super interesting to see which of the powerful engines is regular road-friendly. For this, some automobile enthusiasts gathered to organize a drag race between the two SUVs. Ford Bronco vs Jeep Wrangler
Ford Bronco is a chunky SUV from Ford which is slowly grabbing a lot of attention among the off-roading community. It has a 2.7-litre Ecoboost engine making 330 hp and 542 Nm of peak power and torque respectively. This is a massive 6-cylinder engine. The Jeep Wrangler, on the other hand, comes with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine with an electric motor making 375 hp and a whopping 637 Nm of peak power and torque. Jeep also says that the electric motor versions will be standard across all its models very soon. Both these SUVs are typically designed for off-roading scenarios and therefore have a ton of traction control mechanisms. for this race, these will have to be put in a regular setting without the intervention of electronics.

Who Came Out On Top?
It is also important to mention that the Wrangler weighs over 2500 kg and the Bronco weighs around 2360 kg. So, the Jeep Wrangler might have a more powerful engine but it also weighs a bit more than the Ford Bronco. Turning the traction control off, both the SUVs start off without any slippage. The chunky high-profile tyres aid the launch. In the drag race, the Wrangler speeds off from the Bronco almost at the beginning of the race itself. It stayed that way for the entire race and the distance between the two only grew more. The electric motor and turbocharger provide a strong boost which just propels the Wrangler forward with great force. The Ford Bronco was just not able to cope up with such power.

The Ford Bronco was able to complete the 0-100 kmph sprint in 10.21 secs. The Jeep Wrangler dispatched the 0-100 kmph in a mere 7.09 seconds. What is more interesting is that Jeep claims an even more impressive 6 secs 0-100 kmph time. Whatever the case may be, it is safe to say that the Wrangler is a real monster even with a smaller engine due to the electric aid.
