Like Hyundai Creta, Alcazar Finds More Buyers For Diesel Variant

After the first month of sales, it is determined that 6 out of every 10 Hyundai Alcazar sold have a diesel engine. This is quite an impressive figure considering the fact that the popularity of diesel cars has been on a decline. However, it’s worth mentioning here that last month, soon after the Hyundai Creta went on sale, it came to light that more than 55% of the orders were for the diesel version. It’s also necessary to note here that the newly introduced 7-seater model shares its oil-burner with the compact SUV it’s based on. Another highlight here is that the Alcazar has received over 11,000 bookings within a month of launch. This indicates the popularity that the new model is likely to receive in our market. Let us deduce the possible reasons for people preferring diesel over petrol.

Hyundai Alcazar Diesel Engine

There are quite a few good reasons to choose the diesel engine over the petrol in this segment. The Alcazar is a 7-seat SUV in the mid-size SUV space which already has a significant demand for diesel units. The practicality that the diesel motor offers includes a longer driving range at a lower running cost. Also, the motor on offer here is punchy enough to overtake the traffic on the highways. Secondly, the 1.5-litre diesel unit comes from the Hyundai Creta and is a tried and tested motor that people are already used to it. The claimed ARAI mileage for the Alcazar diesel is an impressive 20.4kmpl. This is the best in the segment. For the petrol unit, this mileage drops down to 14.5 kmpl which is significantly lower. All these factors have led to a higher demand for diesel engine in comparison to petrol.
