Since its launch in summer 2020, the second-generation Mahindra Thar has become one of the most in-demand vehicles in the country. If you book one today, it is highly likely you will not receive your Thar before 2022 as the rugged SUV currently has a waiting period of 8-9 months. Mahindra already has increased production by 50% and discontinued the base models to streamline the production, but is still not meeting the unexpectedly high demand. The latest Thar is an all-new model that is based on a new platform and comes with multiple powertrain options. It only shares the nameplate with the beloved first-generation model. The new Thar is aimed at being a serious option for a daily driver and only vehicle in the garage with its modern features and balanced on-road manners. Though the new Thar is an accomplished 4×4, sometimes even it can get stuck, like the one in the video below.

The video has been uploaded by Nishant Nariani on YouTube. The driver was driving his new Mahindra Thar on the beach during low tide and managed to get the SUV beached in the mud. After getting stuck further whilst trying to get it out, the driver asked some of the locals to help. Even with multiple people pushing the Thar, they were unable to get the vehicle out. With the high tide coming in soon, the situation was looking dire. The driver managed to get a JCB backhoe loader from somewhere and went to the spot where the Thar was stuck. The JCB driver was hesitant to drive on to the beach as being a heavy vehicle it may get beached as well. After looking at the situation, the driver tied a rope to the stricken Thar and finally managed to get it out.
Looking at the video, it seems the driver of the Mahindra Thar wasn’t very experienced in off-roading. It is always advisable to do a thorough check before driving into such soft terrain. If one intends to tackle it, then it should be driven with constant momentum, else the chances of getting stuck become higher. If the vehicle has 4L, it is recommended to engage it beforehand.
