For most models on sale in the country, the base variant is priced substantially lower than the top-spec versions. The same is the case with Maruti Swift, which is among the highest selling cars in the country. The Swift is available in a price range of Rs 5.81-8.86 lakh, with the ZXI variant costing almost Rs 1.35 lakh more than the LXI version. Today though, we have a video that shows a Maruti Swift LXI being converted into ZXI spec for merely Rs 40,000.

As can be seen, the video first shows a white-coloured Maruti Swift LXI that has been thoroughly updated to look like a ZXI-spec version. Starting off with the front, it has been given the LED headlights of the top version along with projector foglamps. The latter is something that’s not even available on the ZXI+ version. Moving to the side profile, here the car has received electric-folding ORVMs with indicators. It must be noted that the base-spec Swift comes with an indicator mounted on the front fender but the same is available on the ORVMs in the higher version. The customizer here has chosen to retain the original fender after covering the indicator cavity with a faux air vent to save on the cost on the costs. chrome door handles and 16-inch alloys have also been added. At the rear, the Swift has received a faux twin end-can replacement and a black spoiler. The customizer has explained how a rear wash wipe can’t be provided unless the entire tailgate is changed, which is a costly affair.

Next, the Youtuber checks out the interior and the immediate highlight comes from the Nippon touchscreen unit that has replaced the stock player. Furthermore, the door pads come from the ZXI+ trim and even the basic speedo cluster of the Lxi unit has been replaced with the one from the top-spec model. The door handles have been left untouched at the request of the owner and same is the case with the dashboard trim. Other than this, the customizer explains that if one wants, he can also get the seats of the LXi version, which have an in-built headrest, changed to ones with adjustable headrests that are available on the top model. The car also gets power windows on all four doors along with an auto-closure feature on the locking of the vehicle.

The customiser then goes on to explain how he can offer some features that are not available on the ZXI+ trim while there are others that the carmaker offers but can’t be provided in the aftermarket. He also says that power windows, electric-closing ORVMs and upgraded infotainment unit with touchscreen display can be provided for as low as Rs 40,000. Overall, we feel that this is a good deal for anyone who buys the Maruti Swift Lxi trim due to budget constraints but later wishes to upgrade to a higher level of equipment without spending too much.
