Eimor Customs, a popular Bangalore-based motorcycle customiser, has transformed the Royal Enfield Desert Storm in a beautiful motorcycle that looks far more upmarket
Royal Enfield is the oldest motorcycle company that is still in production, being founded in 1901. In 2009, the classic 350 and 500 were launched, which was based on the Bullet but looked more retro with its single saddle seat. It turned out to be a hugely successful model with the Classic 350, in particular, dominating the 200 – 400 cc category for over a decade now. Royal Enfield in 2011 launched the Desert Storm, a Classic 500 but with a new military-inspired brown paint scheme. It is sort of a rarity, the Desert Storm, as consumers usually bought the Classic 350 which provided similar looks at a more affordable price tag. Today we came across this Desert Storm that gives a classic 60’s vibe.

Dubbed the “Rangabati”, this Royal Enfield Desert Storm custom project from Eimor customs in Hyderabad. The first thing you’ll notice is the exquisite custom glitter red paint on the new fuel tank, with the rest of the motorcycle, finished in a shade of matte black. The custom tank has an increased angle from the base with two protruded wings with silver leaf on either side of it. Other modifications include chopped off fenders with stainless steel panels with holes, a new free-flow exhaust, and a new double seat with contrast stitching. Overall, this is a very tastefully done modification and evokes the peak of British motorcycles, the 1960s.

The Royal Enfield Desert Storm, along with other Classic 500 models and the Thunderbird 500, was discontinued last year as it failed to meet the new BS-VI emission norms. The Desert Storm is powered by a 500 cc, single-cylinder air-cooled engine that produces 28 PS and 41 Nm of peak power and torque figures and is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Currently, you can buy the Royal Enfield Classic but only in its 350 cc variant. The motorcycle is slated for an update soon, with the new Tripper navigation system to be added to the feature list.
