If the Harrier is anything to by, the Tata Nexon Dark Edition should be based on the top-spec XZ and XZ+-level trims and it could cost up to Rs 25,000 more
The trend of ‘Dark Editions’ was started by the Harrier in Tata Motors’ stable. While the erstwhile flagship did garner a positive response from the market, similar all-black versions of other products in the lineup have surely taken a while to come out. Finally, though, we’re close to the launch of the Tata Nexon Black Edition, which will, of course, go on sale under the Dark Edition moniker. The upcoming variant has been teased through a video for the first time ever.

Unofficial bookings of the Tata Nexon Dark Edition has already commenced at most authorized dealerships and even the first batch of vehicles have started reaching the stockyards. The official launch is expected to take place in the coming days and the new version would help the sub-4-metre SUV to become the only offering in the segment to provide an option of the decidedly cool all-black paint treatment.
As is the case with the pure black version of the Tata Harrier, the Tata Nexon Black Edition will feature an Atlas Black colour scheme. The front grille and the air intake will be painted grey while the chrome inserts of the standard model will make way for dark grey units. Similar appliques will be even found on the window line as well as the boot garnish and rear skid plate. Also, the upcoming model will come with ‘Dark’ badges on the front fenders. While the 16-inch alloy wheels will be carried over from the standard version, they will receive an all-black theme to complement the rest of the exterior.

Inside, the Tata Nexon Dark Edition will have an all-black colour theme with dark shades replacing the light colours in the two-tone theme of the standard model. The aircon vents will feature gloss black surrounds, while the grey inserts on the dashboard and the door trims will be added for enhancing the overall look. The special edition will be based on the top-spec XZ and XZ+ trims, which means they’ll be loaded to the brim with segment-best creature comforts.

Coming to the specs, the new Tata Nexon Black Edition will stay untouched in this department. This means it will be sold with the 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel motors from the standard version. The former outputs 118 bhp while the latter offers 109 bhp. Transmission choices for both variants include a six-speed manual and a six-speed AMT.
