The Tata Nexon has been one of the most popular SUVs in its segment, with its claim-to-fame being the title of first-ever Indian car to score a full 5-star adult protection rating by NCAP
Tata Motors models have surely come a long way in the last decade, with models like the Tiago, Nexon and Harrier enjoying a clear edge over many of their rivals. However, not all is hunky-dory as many carmakers often face issues from the authorised dealerships. There are many incidents of customers who have faced issues with the dealer’s attitude and recently, Jitender Vashisht, a Tata Nexon owner, brought yet another such incident to light.

Through a Facebook post, he has shared his experience of buying a Tata Nexon XZA+. Before he made the purchase, he asked other Nexon users in a Facebook group about the number of keys would receive. Many of those who responded told him that he would get one pep and one fob key. However, Jitender expected to get one pep and two fob keys. Many even opined that the semi-conductor shortage has hit the availability of the second fob key and one would get that only at the time of the first service. Meanwhile, the dealer clarified that the buyer would get only one pep key and one fob key.
Jitender felt this was unfair as the Tata Nexon XZ+ comes with two fob keys and hence, the XZA+, which is costlier, should also come with two such keys. His request for the same was turned down by the dealer but he wrote to Tata Motors’ customer care and connected with the regional sales manager. Finally, he was promised in writing that he would get the second fob key during the first service. The buyer also says that if not insisted upon by the buyer, there are high chances that the dealer would pocket one of the two fob keys and sell it in the open market for roughly Rs 7,000. Through this malpractice, a dealer can possibly make lakhs as the Nexon is a fairly popular model.
