MG has launched a new, Savvy variant of its flagship premium Gloster SUV with ADAS and 4×4 systems. This variant is offered in 6 and 7-seat configurations and will be sold as the new range-topping trim. The prime highlights of the Savvy variant include Level 1 ADAS (Advanced Driving Assistance System) features and an improved 4×4 drive system with 7 drive modes to choose from. The MG Gloster competes against the giants, Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour in our market. These two have been around for ages in India and have a loyal fanbase. For most off-roading enthusiasts, either the Fortuner or the Endeavour is a default choice in the segment.

Mahindra had also tried its hands on this segment with Alturas G4 but was not successful. However, with 363 units sold in July 2021, MG Gloster does have some customers under its belt. This gives us an idea about the potential that the premium SUV has to take on Fortuner and Endeavour. With a ton of regular features, the highlights of the Savvy variant include Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Parking Assist with Handsfree feature, Front Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Driver Fatigue Reminder System, 6 Airbags, Electro-Mechanical Differential Lock, Electric Parking Brakes with Auto Hold Function, a 360-degree Camera, Hill Ascent and Descent Control, Driver Massage Seat, Heating Front Seats and much more. All these features complete the Level 1 autonomous criteria. The intelligent 4×4 drive system with seven drive modes (Snow, Sand, Mud, Rock, Sport, Eco and Auto) allows one to be prepared for any type of terrain or driving conditions. It will ensure that you don’t ever get stuck under any circumstances.

The MG Gloster Savvy variant comes with a powerful 2.0-litre twin-turbo (first in segment) diesel engine capable of 218 PS and 480 Nm of peak power and torque respectively. This engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox and the power goes to all four wheels. Additionally, MG offers the 3+3+3 package for a better ownership experience. This includes a standard 3 years/1 lakh kilometres warranty, 3 years RSA (Road Side Assistance) and 3 Labour Free Services. Also, there are options of 200+ customizable packages to choose from to suit your needs. The prices of the MG Gloster Savvy 6-seat or 7-seat variant with a 4×4 drive system are identical at Rs 37.28 lakh, ex-showroom.
