The brand new Tata Tigor EV has been officially teased by Tata Motors. Having launched the Tata Tigor in the form of Xpress-T EV earlier, this time around the Tigor EV will come with Tata’s Ziptron technology. It is the same technology used to power the new Nexon EV. The Xpress-T EV was catered towards the commercial operators. The all-new Tata Tigor EV is completely intended for private customers. It is clear from the video teaser as well. The video shows legendary Indian F1 driver, Narain Karthikeyan spinning around the Nexon EV on a track made of 70 hairpin bends in Kolli Hills at an altitude of 1,400 m. Midway through the race up the hill, the new Tigor EV pulls up to the Nexon EV and we see both these EVs racing towards the top. Let us take you through the highlights of the new Tata Tigor EV.

All-New Tata Tigor EV
The compact sedan is camouflaged but there are a fair few bits visible which leads us to believe that Tata has done enough to differentiate the commercial and personal Tigor EVs. While the overall silhouette remains the same, there are visual distinctions on this EV version. For instance, the LED DRLs on the bumper are shining through the camo, blue highlights are visible on the wheels, which is a typical thing that Tata does with its EVs. One can also see the projector headlamps and a thick slab on the front grille like the one on the Nexon EV. This will clearly let the oncoming traffic know that it is the new Tata Tigor EV. Nothing much has been shown apart from that and the other details are awaited.

Ziptron Technology
The Ziptron technology will also make this version of the Tigor EV fundamentally different from the Xpress-T EV version. The same technology powers the current-gen Nexon EV which has a claimed range of 312 km. The Tigor EV is also expected to have a range of somewhere around the 300-km mark. This is significantly higher than the 213 km (with the range-extended model) on the Xpress-T version. It is likely to come with a 300 V Permanent Magnet Synchronous Electric Motor and a 30 kWh battery pack, as is the case with the Nexon EV. The battery pack could also be a bit different. But we will know the exact specifications soon. The most crucial aspect of the Tigor EV could well be its aggressive price. We expect the starting prices as low as Rs 10 lakh, ex-showroom.
