All New Maruti Celerio vs Outgoing Model – What Has Changed?

The new Maruti Celerio is about to make an entry and we thought it’d be great to highlight the differences compared to the old model. Celerio is placed in a segment below the Swift and has received a decent response from the customers. Although it is not as popular as the Swift, Celerio is still a preferred choice for a lot of people compared to its competition. We have also seen glimpses of the new Maruti Celerio doing testing and the launch might also take place very soon. Here is the comparison between the old Maruti Celerio and the new one.

Differences Between Old & New Celerio

According to the spy shots that we have seen so far, it seems like while the old Celerio had a more angular front fascia, the new model will be a bit on the round side. This includes somewhat rounded headlamps, bumpers, edges of the car as well as taillamps. The current model has a rectangular headlamp cluster. Additionally, the new one will likely feature a redesigned broad front grille like we see in the Swift with the chrome slab compared to the regular grille in the old model. The same is the case with the taillamps. Apart from that, the dimensions of the new version will likely be larger than the old version. This is because the new model will be based on the updated Heartect platform. Hence, the overall dimensions and interior space might be more.

On the interiors, there will most likely be modern features like a Digital Touchscreen Infotainment System with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Automatic Climate Control, Steering Mounted Controls, Part-Digital Instrument Cluster and updated dashboard and overall layout. We might see some resemblance with the bigger Maruti hatchbacks but the exact details are awaited.

Powertrains

The main difference could also be under the hood. While the 1.0-litre petrol engine making 67 hp and 90 Nm will continue to power the new Celerio as well, there might also be the option of 1.2-litre 83 hp and 113 Nm engine on offer for the top trim as well. The transmission duties will most likely be carried by a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox. Currently, the prices of the Maruti Celerio range between Rs 4.65 lakh and Rs 6 lakh, ex-showroom. We expect a slight increase in the prices of the new Celerio. Let us wait and watch the exact details of the launch that might be just around the corner.
