Earlier, we reported how car buyers are finding MG Astor German and VW Taigun Chinese. And now, a guy who booked VW Taigun considers going for the MG Astor instead after test driving both. Taigun and Astor are the latest entrants into the mid-size SUV segment in India. Both these SUVs offer completely distinct features and propositions to the customers. They carry the DNA of their respective brands in the true sense. If you are looking for a mid-size SUV and don’t want to go for the traditional Korean options, these two present a great alternative. However, some people are confused between the two and rightly so. Let us take a look at one such example.

Potential VW Taigun Owner Wants MG Astor
A guy shared his experience on Facebook. He explains that he had already booked the Taigun. After the official unveiling of the Astor, he test drove the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated variant of it. His observations are quite interesting and we had heard the same feedback from many other people too. After driving the Astor, the guy questions the value for money proposition of the VW Taigun. The interiors and materials used in the Taigun don’t feel premium enough and the top trim costs around Rs 20 lakh, on-road which is too high for such average quality of materials. Many people feel that it doesn’t look like you are sitting in a German car with such a hefty price tag.

On the other hand, sitting inside the Astor makes it look like you are sat in a car from a segment above. Although the official prices are not out yet, people still think that they will get a better value for money package with the Astor. The interiors, cabin feel and features in the Astor are light years ahead of what VW is offering with the Taigun. The Taigun might just be for the ones who are extremely fond of driving and are in the awe of the German carmaker that too when they are willing to compromise on almost all the other aspects of a car. The guy in the post is also waiting for MG to reveal the prices and he will opt for the Astor instead. This is a clear sign of how things might pan out in this segment once VW Taigun and MG Astor start selling side by side.
