Will First Batch of Mahindra XUV700 Face Brake Pad Issues?

There have been some reports surfacing online suggesting that the Mahindra XUV700 was struggling with some production and brake pad issues. The XUV700 is the newest member of the mid-size SUV segment and has the ambitious task of taking on the likes of Creta, Seltos, Harrier and Hector in the 5-seat configuration and Alcazar, Safari and Hector Plus in the 7-seat version. Mahindra clearly thinks that the XUV700 has the goods of challenging these popular SUVs. By the looks of features and powertrain options on offer, Mahindra might actually have a winner on its hands. But what about the production and brake pad issues that the XUV700 was facing? Well, here are the answers.

Production & Brake Issues With Mahindra XUV700

Every carmaker on the planet was suffering from a semiconductor shortage due to the pandemic. The semiconductor chips were consumed by the exponentially increased need for electronics for home usage and the automobile industry’s requirements took the back seat. Hence, the production of many cars including the XUV700 faced delays. There was also an issue with brake pads during the long test runs of the XUV700. Reportedly, both these issues have been resolved now and the SUV will come with a new set of brake pads. The customers will likely face no serious issues with it. The XUV700 has been given priority over the other Mahindra products and all the semiconductors at the companies disposal have been directed towards XUV700. Hence, the manufacturing of XUV700 will most likely not stop.

Specs and Prices

The petrol is a 2.0-litre turbocharged unit that will churn out a maximum power of 200 PS and a peak torque of 380 Nm. Meanwhile, the Diesel engine will be available in multiple states of tune. The lower versions will get 155 PS and 360 Nm, while the higher positioned models will benefit from 185 PS and 420 Nm. In fact, the same engine will put out 450 Nm with an automatic transmission. Speaking of the transmission options, both the petrol and Diesel engine variants will be available with 6-speed manual and automatic transmission choices. With an increment in price tag within 57 minutes of the opening of the bookings, the Mahindra XUV700 range now starts at Rs 12.49 lakh.
