Hyundai Elantra New vs Old Model – Exterior Design Comparison
The 2017 Elantra features styling based on Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language. As is the case with most new Hyundai’s, this one also trades some of the ‘in-your-face’ styling touches for slightly more mature design traits that are bound to appeal to a wider spectrum of buyers. Up front, you get a gaping, single piece hexagonal grille, flanked by sleek headlamps with LED DRLs. The nose now sits lower and the bonnet is much flatter in comparison to the outgoing model. The America-spec model gets bumper mounted LED pilot lamps. However, the India-spec Elantra will get conventional round fog lamps.
The tail also sits lower now and gets narrower LED tail lamps. The exhaust outlet is now hidden from sight under the rear bumper. The ‘Elantra’ badge now sits below the tail lamps instead of above it, as is the case with the one currently on sale in India. Other new design elements include new alloy wheel design, new wing mirrors and new fog lamps. The lower-end trims could skip out on LED taillamps, alloys and LED daytime running lights.

Hyundai Elantra New vs Old Model – Interior Design Comparison
Much like the exteriors, the interiors of the new Elantra feature simpler and more elegant lines in comparison to the current model. Everything in here, right from the steering wheel to the centre console layout is all new. What has been carried over, however, is the use of black upholstery with brushed aluminium highlights. The centre console features a driver-centric asymmetric layout with the touchscreen unit taking centre stage. A claustrophobic rear proved to be the Elantra’s cabin’s biggest Achilles heel. The new generation model will address this issue ensuring the Elantra appeals more to those planning to hand their cars over to the chauffeur.
