While enough has already been reported about the Tata Tiago hatchback (Indica–replacement) and the Tata Kite-based compact sedan (Indigo eCS–replacement), not much has been known about the upcoming Maruti Vitara Brezza– and Ford EcoSport-adversary from one of the largest Indian car manufacturers. The interiors could borrow heavily from the soon-to-be-launched Tiago (Zica). The rear seat space and headroom could be compromised as Tata aims to make a style statement with the Nexon. When launched, the Nexon will be unlike any other compact SUV on sale thanks to its coupe-like silhouette, dual tone colour scheme and the use of ceramic applique all around. It would definitely be the car to buy if you want to stand out from the crowd.
Tata Nexon Engine & Transmission
Details on the upcoming model’s technical specs are scarce, but in all probability, the Nexon compact SUV would feature a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that would belt out a peak power-torque of around 110 bhp-170 Nm. This unit will be a turbocharged version of the 1.2 L Revotron engine that will power the upcoming Tiago hatchback. The diesel motor will be a new 1.5-litre unit which will churn out close to 110 bhp. Transmission options will include an AMT. This will make the Nexon the most powerful diesel compact SUV on sale in the country. Expect claimed Tata Nexon mileage to be around 19 kmpl for the Diesel variant.
