Following its debut more than two years ago at the 2014 Auto Expo and a couple name changes later, the production-ready form of the Bajaj Pulsar CS400 will finally hit showrooms as the Kratos VS400. The VS400 will become Bajaj’s most powerful and most expensive bike yet. Once in the market, one of its biggest rivals will be the KTM Duke 390, a not so distant cousin. Both bikes will be manufactured at Bajaj’s facility in Chakan near Pune. While both bikes will share the same single cylinder engine, the power and torque figures will be different. The engine will be retuned to suit the cruiser nature of the VS400. Expect power delivery to be less urgent in comparison to the 390 Duke. Also, the Kratos VS400 will feature Bajaj’s Triple Spark technology. The 373 single cylinder unit that powers the Duke makes 44 PS and 35 Nm.

Bajaj Kratos VS400 vs KTM 390 Duke – Design & Features
The KTM 390 Duke features a very eye catching design. It flashy colour scheme, sharp lines and minimal bodywork make it instantly recognisable as a KTM product. The design of the Bajaj Kratos VS400 seems to have drawn inspiration from the likes of the Ducati XDiavel. It features a nice clean design devoid of any body graphics. Certain interesting bits such as a full-LED headlight, LED tail light and an all-digital speedo console will make it to the production spec model.
The KTM Duke 390 is likely to get a replacement next year and if the spy images are anything to go by, it will look even more aggressive. As far as the list of features is concerned both bikes get black alloy wheels, LED tail lamps, pilot lamp, digital speedo and more. Duke 390 comes in only two colours – black and white. Bajaj will offer at least 4 to 5 colour options for the CS400. Although the two bikes share the same heart, when it comes to styling, they couldn’t look more different.

Bajaj will be targeting a different customer base with the upcoming Kratos VS400. While the KTM 390 Duke is for those looking for performance, the Kratos will target buyers looking for a long distance cruiser.
Design – The KTM 390 Duke looks flashy and eye catching. On the other hand, the Kratos VS400 looks more elegant and muscular. Still, looks are a matter of personal taste and its all up to the buyer.
Specifications – While both bikes share the same engine, Bajaj Kratos VS400’s power and torque figures will be lower. It will be tuned keeoing the bike’s cruiser nature in mind. Expect the Kratos to be more fuel efficient.
Price – We’re almost certain the Bajaj Kratos will cost less than the KTM Duke. There could be a price difference of around ten to twenty thousand Rupees.
