New Yamaha MT-09 Launched In India At Rs. 10.88 Lakh

Finally, the wait is over as India Yamaha Motor launched the New Yamaha MT-09 today at INR 10,88,122 ex-showroom Delhi. The anticipated two-wheeler further strengthens the company’s portfolio in the nation. Yamaha is referring to its latest offering as ‘Multi performance neo roadster” which stays true to the nature of the New Yamaha MT-09 as internationally this model has been the choice of owners demanding overall versatility from their bike.

The indistinctive looks of the Yamaha MT-09 is a great selling point and the sharp features flow from the headlight right to the tail lamp. The front features a “bad boy” look with 4 LEDs doing their duty to light up the road ahead. The radiator side fins and large air intakes account for better airflow and aerodynamics. Staying true to the MT design theme, the bike features newly designed rear view winglets under the headlight. The single side swing arm mounted rear fender adds to the neatness and functionality of the bike and the tail light is featured neatly into the body itself leading to a shorter rear subframe by 30 mm.

Powering the New Yamaha MT-09 is a newly developed 847 CC, 3-cylinder engine churning out 115 BHP at 10,000 RPM and 87.5 Nm torque at 8500 RPM. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox and the power is transmitted to the rear wheel via a chain. The diamond type frame rests on telescopic forks in the front and a swingarm at the rear with the front suspension travel limited to 137 mm. Braking comes from the 298 mm hydraulic dual disc in the front and a 245mm single hydraulic disc at the rear. The MT-09 rides on the 120/70ZR17M tubeless tire in the front whereas the rear gets a 180/55ZR17M tubeless tire.

The bike’s length, width and height are 2,075 mm, 815mm and 1,120mm respectively. The minimum ground clearance on the MT-09 is 135mm with a seat height of 820mm. The wheelbase stretches to 1,440mm and the total wet weight including the engine oil and fuel tank is 193kg. The fuel capacity on the same is 14litress.
The MT-09 is available in three colour options namely, “Bluish Gray Solid”, “Deep Purplish Blue” and “Matte Dark Gray”. The bike is powerful yet agile and is targeted at customers upgrading from 600cc bikes for more power or customers downgrading from more powerful bikes looking for a city-friendly or daily use motorcycle.
The Yamaha MT-09 competes with the Kawasaki Z900, Triumph Street Triple RS, Ducati Monster 796 and Aprilia Shiver 900.
