Newly PSA owned Vauxhall has revealed a new van based MPV called the Combo Life, which officially launches the firm in the leisure activity vehicle (LAV) segment.

Lining up alongside two PSA stablemates – the new Citroen Berlingo Multispace, and Peugeot’s yet to be revealed Partner Tepee replacement – the Combo Life will hit UK showrooms late in 2018. Comparing it to the new Berlingo, it’s clear that plenty of design influence has been carried over from its Citroen badged sibling, though the Combo Life ditches Airbump panels for a more straightforward look, complete with Vauxhall’s latest family face.

The new Combo Life will be available in two sizes. Against the tape measure, the regular van sizes up at 4.4 metres long, while the long-wheelbase model stretches to 4.75 metres, unlocking additional boot space. Like the Berlingo, the smaller of the two Combo Life models boasts 750 litres of bootspace, with the long-wheelbase van increasing to 1,050 litres. Both small and large Combo Life models will be available with either five or seven seats

In the cabin, the paired back, horizontal dashboard is completely carried over from the Berlingo, with an eight-inch touchscreen navigation infotainment display available. The only real difference on show between the two is the steering wheel, swapped out for a Vauxhall badged one in the Combo Life, while the cabin itself should be just as spacious.

Some of the headline tech additions heading the Combo Life’s way include a head-up display, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition, and forward collision alert with pedestrian detection capabilities and automatic emergency braking. A panoramic rear view camera is paired with a park assistance feature, too. Heated front seats and a heated steering wheel will be available, while Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will be on the infotainment menu.

Vauxhall has not yet revealed any of the powertrains heading the way of the Combo Life in detail, but it’s hard to look past the same line-up of 1.2-liter PureTech petrols and 1.5-litre BlueHDI diesels heading the way of the Berlingo. Our first full look will come at the Geneva Motor Show early next month.
