CarGurus editors started 2018 with a visit to the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Today, we’re gearing up to attend the first of two press days at the 2018 New York International Auto Show. Here’s what’s on our radar.
- New ways to test drive: Automakers are introducing virtual reality and augmented reality to give shoppers a new way to drive before they buy. The VR from Honda and Ford lets drivers experience different types of terrain. Kia promises an even more immersive 4D excursion through the south of France. Can they replace the traditional test-drive experience? We’ll let you know.
- Eye-catching debut cars: There’s a long list to see, including the all-new Lexus UX and Cadillac XT4. How do these cars stack up on safety, comfort and technology? We’ll be on the ground to give you a first look at these 2019 vehicles.
- One-of-a-kind cars: Whether it’s cars that made movie history or those that made race history, like the Ford GT that raced at Le Mans, we can be sure to see some groundbreaking cars drawing inspiration from history at this year’s auto show.
- Awe-inspiring displays: Last year, we were wowed by the gravity-defying display from Goodyear and Porsche. The companies teamed up to create a stand with vintage cars perched nearly vertically. What can we expect from this year’s show?
- Supercars: Our inner enthusiasts shout with delight at the chance to see Bugatti, Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Rimac supercars up close. While we may never actually own one of these cars thanks to their hefty price tags, we’ll enjoy them at the show while we can.
We’ll be reporting from the NYIAS today and tomorrow during press days to give you a sneak peek before the show opens. Check our Facebook page to catch the latest from the show floor, and if you go, feel free to post your comments, photos, and even videos there. We look forward to seeing what you think of the show and all those 2019s.
