2. 2018 Maruti Swift – 3 Star Safety Rating
While the phased out model of the Swift scored full 5-star rating in the Euro NCAP test, the current generation simply failed to impress. The standard version of the 2018 Maruti Swift scored mere 3 stars in the Euro NCAP safety test. Even the Swift with the optional safety pack could only score an additional star. The standard variant of the Swift scored 83% in adult occupant protection and 75% in child occupant protection averaging 3 stars. The optional safety pack scored 88% in adult occupant protection and 75% in child safety averaging at 4 stars. Considering the international model comes equipped with 6 airbags and the Indian version offers just 2, the safety of its passengers is highly questionable.
3. 2018 Maruti Swift – Petrol MT Is Faster
The 2018 Maruti Swift is powered by the 1.2-litre petrol engine. The same engine, in the previous generation, propelled the car to 100kph from a standstill in 14.24 seconds. Thanks to intelligent weight saving and updated aerodynamics, the new Swift can reach the same speed in 11.96 seconds. That’s 2 seconds faster than the previous generation.

4. 2018 Maruti Swift – Diesel Tuned For Mileage
Considering the weight saving because of the Suzuki’s Heartect platform and re-tunned diesel engine, the 2018 Maruti Swift delivers staggering mileage figures. The new hatchback delivers around 22 kmpl in real-world conditions. Also note that the new Swift diesel is slower than the previous generation. While you get lower acceleration, higher mileage more than compensates for it.
