The Norton Commando 961 comes two versions globally – Sport and Cafe Racer; but it is the former that we will come to India first. The bike has a modern-classic design while having a modern and powerful engine. The engine gets new die-cast cases, head and cylinder, with Nikasil, bore plating inside the cylinder and is paired with a 5-speed transmission.

The suspension system of the new Norton Commando is taken care of with the help of Ohlins inverted forks up front along with Ohlins twin spring gas-charged shock absorbers at the rear. Body panels of the bike are made of carbon-fibre, which requires extensive tooling.
