India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, Hero Motocorp had unveiled the new Hero Dawn 125 cc motorcycle at the ongoing EICMA 2016 in Milan. The new model had been specifically designed and engineered for the African market. However, after two years, it still shows no sign of coming to India.

The Hero Dawn 125 is available at dealerships across major African markets, including, Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Tanzania and Mozambique among others. Hero’s press release clearly states the Dawn 125 is meant for the African market only. Earlier, there were some rumours about the bike making it to India in some form or the other as an entry-level 125cc commuter in 2018, which are wrong. The company states that it was specifically for the African markets.

As the name suggests, the new Dawn 125 gets a 125cc single-cylinder engine that comes from the Glamour. This engine pumps out a maximum power of 9 BHP and a peak torque of 10.35 Nm. For the Dawn, transmission duties will be taken care of by a four-speed manual gearbox.

New Hero Dawn 125 Design and Styling
The Hero Dawn 125cc variant boasts a round headlamp flanked without a cowl, luggage carriers and alloy wheels. The tail-piece and side cowl are similar to the Super Splendor sold in India. The speedo console is a pretty basic unit. Overall, the bike has a simple and a utilitarian design with a touch of style thanks to body graphics and black alloy wheels. It gets a full chrome front mudguard and chrome exhaust pipe.
