The much anticipated Ather 340 Electric scooter is all set to launch tomorrow, after making us wait for a long time. Currently, the bike will be based only in Bengaluru because the charging stations are made there only till now. Earlier, it was known as S340 which is now ‘340’. The scooter might cost around Rs 1 Lakh.
The much-awaited electric scooter, Ather 340 is all ready to launch on 5th June. It is expected to price around Rs 1 Lakh and will get some attractive features. Ather gets a touch-screen speedometer which consists of smartphone connectivity, parking assist, navigation assist, vehicle charging point tracker, push navigation and more. It looks like it has been taken out of some futuristic movie with all those hovercrafts and all. It looks very simple, yet stylish. The scooter comes with a 2.2 kWh lithium-ion battery that has a lifecycle of 50,000 kms. it also gets Central Braking system, LED lights and under seat storage. Currently, it is one of a kind in India and will compete with all the scooters. Mainly, it will compete with the Vespa series, because only the Italians come near 340’s expected price.

The scooter will be powered by the lithium-ion battery that produces around 6.4 BHP worth of power and 14 Nm worth of torque. It records a top-speed mileage of 72 Kms and will run approximately 60 Kms on a single charge. The scooter claims to touch 0-40 KMPH in 5-seconds. The scooter will come with fast chargers, which can charge the scooter up to 80% within an hour. Currently, it is available only in the production place, Bengaluru. There are around 30 charging stations in Bengaluru, which will double in the coming year. Currently, the exact specs and details are not out yet, which will be declared on its launch day.

The Ather 340 will come with a completely futuristic design with sharp edge styling. As mentioned earlier, it gets an Android-based touch infotainment system with a custom user interface, push-navigation, over-the-air updates, multiple riding modes and more. Ather Energy is a startup based in Bengaluru, who had announced about this scooter some years ago. Although, this scooter was delayed for over a year.

The production for the scooter has already begun at the company’s facility and will be launched in a phased manner. The commercial production of the scooter is set to start from July 2018 and the booking are expected to start from the launch date. It is one of the type scooters and looks fresh and appealing enough. The scooter will be a premium offering and is expected to be one of the most expensive locally-made electric scooters in India. It is expected to cost between Rs 80,000 to Rs 1 Lakh (ex-showroom). The scooter is priced because of the features and unique styling it offers.
