Reports and our sources say that Renault Duster 85 PS diesel variant has been stopped for now. Now, the SUV comes only in 110 PS diesel variant along with a 1.5 Litre petrol unit.
Renault Duster was first launched in July 2012 and it became an instant hit. It was amongst the very first of its compact SUV segment. People stuck between a 5-seater car and big SUV could opt for this. After Duster, many SUVs in its segment came, which gradually affected the sales of Duster. Now, we get the news that the 1.5 Litre diesel engine that puts out 85 PS, is no longer available on Duster. Our dealer sources said that the 85 PS variant does not come in the showrooms any more.
Renault Duster comes with two diesel and one petrol engines. The 1.5 Litre diesel comes in two power configurations – 85 PS and 110 PS. The diesel engine puts out 85 PS and 200 Nm of peak torque. The other configuration puts out 110 PS and 245 Nm of peak torque.

The 85 PS engine comes only with a 5-speed manual gearbox. However, the 110 PS engine comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox with an optional AMT unit. Total 3 variants – RXE, RXS and RXZ.
Renault Duster also uses a 1.5L petrol engine. This engine produces 110 BHP and 142 Nm of peak torque. The petrol engine comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox along with an optional CVT unit.
The primary reason for stopping the production of 85 PS variant is because of its poor sales. In its range, most of the SUVs offer power figures at least above 100 BHP. Also, there is no major price gap between both the variants. So, that is why people opt for the powerful 110PS one.

Feature highlights of the Renault Duster include cruise control, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Tilt adjustable steering, Electric ORVMs, Keyless Remote Entry and more. For safety, it uses rear parking sensors, a rear parking camera, ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, front airbags and a Rear defogger system.
For the past couple of months, Duster is not performing well in its segment. With increased challenges from the sub-4 meter SUV segment and Hyundai Creta, Duster’s sales have drastically decreased.
On the other hand, Renault Duster petrol is quite in demand. As per our dealer sources, Duster petrol has a waiting period of over 2 months and the diesel variants are available after waiting for 15 days.
