Tata Harrier will most likely start off at a price of Rs 16 Lakhs for the base variant and around Rs 21 Lakhs for the top-end one (on-road prices). The unveiling is slated in the first week of December, following the price announcement in January 2019.
Tata Harrier is quite the trend now. Tata has been teasing the SUV regularly with updates on its performance and capabilities. Now, we have a more solid confirmation of its on-road prices, courtesy – Twitter account of Tata Motors. The tweet reply says that Harrier is expected to be priced between Rs 16 Lakhs to Rs 21 Lakhs, which includes registration charges, insurance etc. As per online reports, Tata will globally unveil the Harrier in the first week of December. Tata Harrier is reportedly going to start off at 13.5 Lakhs and go up to Rs 18 Lakhs (ex-showroom prices). At this price, it undercuts the Jeep Compass and is priced aggressively against Mahindra XUV 500. The prices are also similar to that of Hyundai Creta, which ends up at 15.07 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi).

Tata Harrier gets a 2.0 Litre Kyrotec diesel engine that cranks out 145 HP and 350 Nm of torque. The engine is basically a rebadged version of the 2.0 Litre Multijet diesel engine. This engine gets a variable geometry turbocharger, which helps in decreasing the turbo lag while sudden acceleration. The engine will be BS-VI compliant.
For transmission, it will get a 6-speed manual gearbox along with an optional 6-speed automatic unit.
The diesel engine comes with multi-drive modes and as possible AWD. The top end variants might get the drivetrain system. The SUV will definitely get Tata’s driving modes – ECO, CITY, and SPORT.

Tata recently uploaded videos of Harrier’s water wading capability and off-roading capability. The Harrier uses the OMEGA ARC Platform. This newly designed platform is a localized and cheaper version of Land Rover’s JLR D8 Platform.
Various reports also suggest that the Harrier might get a petrol engine later. There is no confirmation as of now, but there are chances as Jeep Compass and XUV 500 also come with a petrol engine. Also, rumours of a hybrid petrol version by 2021, in order to keep up with the growing competition are out.
There are chances that it might also get a 7-seater version of the Harrier. If the 7-seater Harrier comes into play, it will go against the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Honda CR-V and the upcoming Mahindra XUV 700. The prices of the 7-seater Harrier might increase by 2 Lakhs or so from the 5-seater Harrier.

Safety features of the Harrier will include dual airbags, ABS, ESP, and EBD as standard fitments across all variants. The higher variants might get 6-airbags, Traction Control, Brake Assist, Hill Assist control and Hill descent control as safety features.
