2018 Hyundai Santro; 8500 units dispatched to dealerships

2018 Hyundai Santro is a true blockbuster. It has already garnered 29,000 bookings till now and Hyundai has started sending units to the dealerships. The first dispatched batch includes 8500 units. 

The all-new Hyundai Santro has already got 29,000 bookings in just 22 days. The waiting period has shot up to 3-4 months. The bookings already began from 10th October, because a heavy demand was expected. The demand may rise even more because of the upcoming Diwali season. As of now, Hyundai has dispatched 8,500 units to dealerships. The first batch deliveries are going to begin soon. The prices of the Santro start off at Rs 3.89 Lakhs going up to Rs 5.64 Lakhs (ex-showroom prices Delhi). Read more about the Santro here.

With this, Hyundai has achieved sales of 52,001 units for the month of October 2018. This is Hyundai’s highest domestic sales ever. It has garnered cumulative sales of 65,020 units for October. This month, it has achieved a growth of 4.9% in domestic sales, 3.7% in exports and a cumulative growth of 4.6%.

2018 Hyundai Santro comes with many segment first features. The highlights include rear AC vents, touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Steering mounted audio controls and centralized power window switches. Safety features include dual front airbags, ABS, EBD, reverse parking sensors with a rearview camera and much more.

For engine purposes, the Santro uses the old 1.1 Litre Epilson petrol engine. This engine came in Santro and the first-generation i10. This engine produces 68 BHP and 99 Nm of peak torque. Santro comes in petrol and CNG variant.

For transmission, there is a 5-speed manual gearbox and Hyundai’s in-house developed new AMT gearbox.

2018 Hyundai Santro comes in total 9 variants. However, the CNG and AT are not offered on the top-end trims and rather on the mid-spec Sport. The top-end Asta does not offer alloy wheels also. The petrol gets an option of MT and AMT, but the CNG comes only in MT.

The new Santro competes with the likes of Maruti Celerio, Maruti WagonR, Renault Kwid and Tata Tiago. In terms of pricing, it is one of the costliest ones. However, in terms of features, it is the leader of the segment.

Hyundai’s most successful models include new Santro, Creta, Grand i10 and Elite i20. Barring Santro, all the other three models garner more than 10,000 units per month.
