In term of its exterior design, the new 2018 Maruti Ertiga is a completely different car than the older version. Where the older version seems like an extension of the Swift family, the 2018 iteration boasts of its own unique identity.

For instance, it comer with elongated headlamps with projector elements, a sporty looking bumper, sharp character lines on the side profile and a stout looking rear end. In addition to this, the MPV also comes with a very angular tail-lamp design which appears very premium and a class above.
In contrast, the older spec version comes with a curvaceous design which though premium has now started to look a bit dated.
2018 Maruti Ertiga Vs Old Ertiga- Interiors
As with the case with the exterior profile of the new Ertiga, the interiors stand completely revamped as well. They are no longer the exact copy of the MPV’s hatchback and sedan siblings and hence get their unique layout.

However, it still shares some components with the Dzire. While the older generation models came with a complete black dashboard colour scheme, the new iteration is going to feature a dual-tone colour scheme of black and beige.
In addition to this, Maruti could also include the leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob along with complete leather upholstery on the top-spec trims. Furthermore, in contrast to the water-flow design of the dashboard of the older version of the MPV, the new one gets a more streamlined design which looks quite a lot contemporary.
2018 Maruti Ertiga Vs Old Ertiga- Features
One of the areas which are going to witness the biggest upgrade from the older generation to the new one if the equipment list. Comparing the top-spec versions, the 2018 Maruti Ertiga is is going to come with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system loaded with Maruti Smartplay and featuring Android auto and Apple Car Play.

In addition to this, the MPV is going to feature automatic climate control, reverse parking camera, day and night IRVM among other features.
2018 Maruti Ertiga Vs Old Ertiga- Engine Specifications
Another major from the older model to the new one is the addition of a new 1.5-litre petrol engine. This unit is going to replace the existing 1.4-litre K14B unit with a new 1.5-litre K15B unit. The new motor will churn out 105 BHP of power along with 138 Nm of peak torque. The jump in the power and torque figure is not very huge as the 1.4-litre motor churns out 92 BHP along with 130 NM of peak torque.

The diesel engine will remain the same. it will continue to be the 1.3-litre DDiS unit sourced from Fiat. The transmission responsibilities are likely to be taken care of by a 5-speed manual unit in the petrol derivative while the diesel one is going to get a 6-speed unit. In addition to this, the petrol derivative will also get a 4-speed automatic unit.
2018 Maruti Ertiga Vs Old Ertiga- Safety Features
Another area where the latest iteration of the Ertiga will score better in comparison to the older model if its safety equipment list. As standard, the car is going to feature dual-airbags along with ABS with EBD and ISOFIX child seat mounts. In addition to this, the car will also feature reverse parking sensors as standard. All of these features were available only on the top-spec trims in the older generation model.

2018 Maruti Ertiga Vs Old Ertiga- Prices
At the moment, the prices of the Maruti Ertiga starts at INR 6.34 Lakh to INR 10.69 Lakh. With the addition of several new features and plus the generation update itself, we expect the prices of some of the variants of this MPV to go up slightly.
