As per our dealer sources, KTM Duke 125 might launch in India by December 2018. It will be the least powerful performance bike in India, placed before Yamaha R15 V3. Along with this, KTM Duke 790 might also launch in India.
KTM Duke 125 is the entry-level performance motorcycle in KTM’s global lineup. India is the manufacture and export hub for Duke 125, but it is not available in the Indian market itself. Reports and our sources say that Duke 125 will debut in India soon, before the end of 2018. Recently, it was spotted testing near Pune with heavy camouflage.
In India, the 125cc segment is considered as a commuter department, filled with a variety of commuter bikes. Here, the concept of performance motorcycles usually starts from above 200cc.
The bodywork and design would be similar to the elder KTM siblings. 125 would miss out on some performance and regular features.

If it launches, it will replace Yamaha R15 V3 as the entry-level performance motorcycle of India. We expect a price range of around Rs 1.2 Lakhs (ex-showroom prices).

Earlier, KTM confirmed that it would not launch the Duke 125 in India. The primary reason is that this segment is for commuter motorcycles. Now, as per our dealer sources, the launch of Duke 125 and Duke 790 is reported to be before the end of 2018.

The pricing would be much higher than that of Pulsar 125. As per our knowledge, the KTM Duke 125 might cost around Rs 1.2 Lakhs. The prices 125 would be high as compared to other bikes. Now, this bike would go as a performance-oriented commuter bike.

The KTM Duke 125 will be powered by a 125cc single cylinder fuel-injected engine. The engine gives out 15 HP and 14 Nm and comes paired to a 6-speed slipper clutch gearbox.
The figures are definitely better than 125cc bikes and even better than some 150cc bikes. KTM’s lightweight frame helps in higher power figures. This engine would give good acceleration features along with a decent mileage figure.

As per our expectations, Duke 125 would deliver a mileage figure of around 45 kmpl. In real-world conditions, the mileage would lower done a bit.

The KTM Duke 125 would get a similar body to 390. It will carry the loud decals over the body, trellis frame cradle and upright position. The main differences would include a ‘125’ decal below the fuel tank and the graphics. Other design highlights might include split headlights and split seats.

KTM Duke 125 Suspension and Braking
For suspension, it uses USD Forks in front and a mono-shock absorber in the back. It is also built on the same Steel Trellis frame chassis, which also comes on the other Duke variants. It might come with a single-channel Bosch ABS and the Bosch engine management system.
KTM Duke 125 Competition
Recently, the Pulsar 125 was launched in Poland, which we think might come to India as well. Rajiv Bajaj has confirmed that it is planning to launch more affordable Pulsar bikes in India. So, if we compare it on the basis of specs, these two would go against each other. At this price, it will compete with the Yamaha R15 V3.
