Mahindra S201 compact SUV is going to launch in India during the first half of 2019. It will fall in between the price range of INR 7 lakh to INR 10 lakh.
The Mahindra S201 compact SUV (Read More), expected to launch in India during the first half of 2019 is going to come with several segments first features. The homegrown automaker has been testing this car on our Indian roads for quite some time now. Recent spy shots of the test mule of its top end variant have now surfaced online, once again.
The recent spy images show the top-end variant of the Mahindra S201. In these spy images, you can clearly see that it comes with projector headlamps. What also becomes clear is that instead of the conventional halogen lamps, the S201 comes with LED units. With this, upon launch, it is going to be the only subcompact SUV in India to feature LED headlamps. The competition, though comes with projector units, does not offer LED headlamps.

In addition to this, the Mahindra S201 is going to come with LED taillamps as well. Furthermore, spy images reveal that there will be rear disk brakes on offer as well. Once again, this will make this feature a segment first as none of the competition offers disk brakes on all four wheels. The S201 is going to come with 17-inch alloy wheels. Speculations also state that this SUV is going to come with a panoramic sunroof.

Just to bring to your notice once again, the Mahindra S201 is based on the SsangYong Tivoli. From recent developments, we can say that it will look like its donor car. The only difference is going to be the Mahindra badging. Along with this, the restyled front grille and other minor cosmetic updates in sync with Mahindra’s design philosophy.
So far, Mahindra has not confirmed on as to what engine specs this compact SUV is going to come with. However, we expect it to launch in India with a 1.5-litre diesel engine. This is the same unit which made its debut in the Marazzo MPV recently. This engine churns out 120 BHP along with 300 Nm of peak torque. At the time of launch, the Mahindra S201 will be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

There are chances that Mahindra might introduce a petrol variant. This unit could very well be a 1.litre unit. Its power output is likely to be around the mark of 100 BHP along with close to 150 Nm of peak torque output. This one is likely to come with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The Mahindra S201’s primary competition is going to be with the likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon and the Honda WR-V. As a result of this, its prices will fall in the range of INR 7 lakh to INR 10 lakh.
