Since then the automaker has been teasing us with a series of videos related to the interior design of this new SUV.

In the month of January, the Tata Harrier is going to launch in India in a five-seat configuration. Its prices will fall in-between the range of INR 12 lakh to 18 Lakh. And it will compete against the likes of Jeep Compass, Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks and the Renault Captur.

However, in addition to the five-seat configuration, this SUV will also have a seven-seat version in the near future as well.

Not only this but that apart from an additional 62 mm overhang, there will no other major point of differentiation between the two versions.

In fact, both the iterations will share a same wheelbase of 2,741 mm.

The five-seat iteration of the Tata Harrier is going to launch in India with a diesel engine. This oil-burner is going to be a 2.0-litre, Kryotec, 4-cylinder unit. It will generate 140 BHP along with 350 nm of peak torque.

The seven-seat iteration, however, is going to come with a BS-VI complaint version of the same engine. Speculations suggest that in its BS-VI guise this engine will produce close to 170 BHP of power.

After its introduction in the seven-seat version, this engine will eventually make its way to the five-seater version as well.

The Tata Harrier is going to come with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. The five-seater iteration of this SUV is not going to come with an automatic gearbox at the time of the launch.

The 6-speed automatic torque converter unit will only make its way to the Harrier’s line-up with the seven-seat iteration.

The prices of the larger Tata Harrier are likely to fall in the range of INR 18 lakh to INR 22 lakh. This is considering the fact if Tata decides to launch the seven-seat version in multiple variants.
