2018 Maruti Ertiga has been spied testing with a new 1.5 Litre diesel engine and a 6-speed manual gearbox. The updated Ertiga might launch in January 2020. The automaker will launch all of its BS-6 models just 2-3 months before the deadline.
Just a couple of days after the launch of 2018 Maruti Ertiga, another test mule has been spotted. As per Gaadiwaadi, the spotted test mule is the upcoming Ertiga with the new 1.5 Litre diesel engine.
Current Ertiga uses the same-old 1.3 Litre DDiS diesel engine. Since prior to the launch of Ciaz, the rumours of a new diesel engine under development were going on. The new engine was expected to come in new Ciaz and the new Ertiga as well.
The fuel efficient 1.3 Litre diesel unit will make way for the 1.5 Litre SHVS BS-6 compliant diesel engine. The new engine will offer more power and torque with a reduced fuel efficiency.

The spotted test mule of 2018 Maruti Ertiga came with a 6-speed manual gearbox. While the current DDiS engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual setup, the new gearbox confirms it.
As per our expectations, the new diesel engine will output 110 BHP of max. power and 270 Nm of peak torque. The mileage claims will be around 23 kmpl, which would not cause much of a difference.
Reports suggest that 2018 Maruti Ertiga might also get a sportier variant soon. Based on the top-end variant, the Ertiga Sport (speculative) will have a distinctive and more fun look. Expect a different set of alloys, revised bumpers, body claddings and side skirts.

The Ertiga sport will retail through Nexa showrooms. As per our expectations, it might just get some visual upgrades. There are chances of Baleno RS’s 1.0 Litre Turbocharged petrol engine coming with Ertiga sport. It might come only in a six-seater variant.
Features onboard 2018 Maruti Ertiga include Auto AC, Air-cooled Twin cup holders, Steering mounted audio controls, Smartplay Infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Car Play, Tilt-Adjustable steering, keyless entry and push-button start.
Safety features onboard include dual airbags, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, ISOFIX and Rear Parking sensors as standard fitment. The top-end variants come with Rear Parking Camera, Front Fog Lamps and Speed Sensitive Auto Door Lock. AT variants come with ESP and Hill-hold features as well.

The prices of 2018 Maruti Ertiga start off at Rs 7.44 Lakhs up to Rs 10.90 Lakhs (ex-showroom prices). It does not face any direct competition but indirectly goes up against Mahindra Marazzo and Renault Lodgy.
