The G350d will come with a 3.0L turbocharged diesel engine producing 286 bhp.
The Mercedes AMG G63 has always been a popular car in our country and has been the top picked SUVs in car enthusiasts. Well, now the good news is that Mercedes will be bringing a more affordable version of G Class in a diesel engine, also called as the G350d in India.
The Mercedes G350d is scheduled to launch in India markets on Oct 16. The pocket rocket will be available at an expected price range of Rs 1 Crore (ex-showroom). There was an increased demand of G Class in its diesel form so it will be available at your nearest dealerships soon.
The Mercedes G350d will get a 3.0-litre,in-line-six-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine which is seen with the flagship S Class. The one in the SUV will produce 286 bhp and a peak torque of 300 Nm. Transmission option include a 9-speed automatic gearbox and for conquering the bad roads, it will come with three differential locks as found in the G63 AMG.

Since there will be a massive price difference, hence, it will be the styling part where the changes will be reflected. For starters, the SUV will not carry those big wheel arches and will ditch the body kit.
It is expected to sit on 19-inch alloy wheels and will feature a simpler grille upfront as opposed to the loud one found in its higher variant. It is not yet sure if the G350d will be offered at the same level of equipment as the AMG G63.
Talking about the interiors then it will carry the same leather upholstery and will get twin big screens – one for the instrument cluster and other will be a touchscreen infotainment unit. Mercedes calls it a ‘widescreen cockpit’. Power adjustable front seats with memory function can also be expected and a decent amount of boot space in this 5-seater SUV.

Since the Mercedes G350d will be a full import in Indian markets, the prices will be born by the potential customers. However, on the plus side, for those looking to buy a G Class but resisted in buying one, this diesel spec model could be quite an alternative. And we think that this baby G Class will do good in sales.
As of now, there is no direct competition of the G350d in India but we expect it to compete with the likes of Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, BMW X7 and the top variants of diesel Audi Q7 and Jeep Grand Cherokee.
