Renault Captur BS6 Petrol Engine Spied Testing; Diesel To Be Ditched

Like the Captur diesel engine which will be discontinued, Renault also plans to remove the Lodgy from its portfolio. The Duster oil burner will too be removed.

With most manufacturers shifting to BS6 compliant petrol engine and ditching the oil burner for good, Renault too has been spotted testing the Captur. The car was spotted with a sticker that said, ‘BS6 vehicle petrol. Do not use any other fuel’.

Renault Captur will ditch the diesel engine from its lineup once the BS6 emission norms kick in. That said, even the Duster will be switching to sole petrol only. The manufacturers have also said they will discontinue the Lodgy post new emission norms as it is a costly affair to upgrade the BS4 diesel to BS6 compliant. Another reason is because of the poor sales of the Lodgy.

Renault Captur direct competition is the Hyundai Creta and Nissan Kicks. Out of which both these cars offer more features than the Captur. Newly launched Kia Seltos and the popular Tata Harrier also competes with the SUV. And with the latest technologies and features its competition gets, Renault Captur feels outdated now.

The alloy wheel design of the upcoming model remains the same as the current one.

The prices of the Captur starts at Rs 9.5 lakh for the base spec petrol model and the top end diesel engine sees a price tag of Rs 13.05 lakh. All prices retail at ex-showroom, Delhi.
