The 2020 Tata Nexon facelift will get BS-VI complaint petrol and diesel engines but apart from that, it gets brand new styling and considerable interior updates as well.
It’s already known that Tata has been working on a facelift of the Nexon and on the Nexon EV as well. Now, there are some fresh spy shots of a heavily camouflaged 2020 Tata Nexon facelift and these changes are likely to make way into the EV as well. And, from the looks of it, there are quite a few.
Even by just looking at the face of this heavily camouflaged test mule, one can tell there’s a completely new face underneath. The 2020 Nexon facelift gets a an updated bonnet, new bumper design, re-profiled fog lamp units and new headlights with DRLs. The front grille has also been refreshed and looks much sportier now. In fact, there’s some resemblance to even the Harrier.
The Nexon will remain largely the same in profile but is expected to get new alloy wheels. Although the rear section does not seem to get as comprehensive a makeover as the front, but it gets fair share of updates. There will be new LED tail lamps and the rear bumper also seems to have been re-profiled.
Although there has been no news on the interiors of the 2020 Tata Nexon facelift yet, it is expected to be more premium than the present car with more premium upholstery and other components. The new car might also get a new instrument cluster with a sportier Bosch-sourced all-digital unit. Along with this, Tata might also introduce some more equipment on the Nexon to better match its competitors like the Venue, XUV300 and EcoSport.

The other most important update to the 2020 Tata Nexon facelift will be under the hood. It will get BS-VI compliant versions of its current petrol and diesel engines. The existing 1.2-litre petrol engine generates max power of 110 PS @ 5,000 rpm and max torque of 170 Nm @ 1750-4000 rpm. The 1.5-litre diesel unit makes 110 PS @ 3,750 rpm and 260 Nm @ 1,500-2750 rpm. Transmission options for both engines include 6-speed manual and 6-speed AMT gearbox. The Nexon also gets Eco, City and Sport which will continue with the facelift as well.

Also, the Tata Nexon is one of the very few made in India cars to receive a 5-star safety rating in the Global NCAP crash tests. The safety standards of the Nexon will continue with the facelift and it could also see the addition of pedestrian protection that will be implemented for all cars from October 2020. The Nexon is expected to see a minor increment in price with all these updates, perhaps by Rs. 50,000-70,000 and is expected to launch early next year with a probable preview at the 2020 Auto Expo.
