The new Benelli Imperiale 400 makes its debut in India as a retro-styled cruiser taking on the likes of Royal Enfield Classic 350.
After its new partnership with Adishwar Auto Ride India (AARI), Benelli India has launched four bikes till now. The first launch was of the TRK 502 Twins, followed by Leoncino 500, Leoncino 250 and now the Imperiale 400.
Benelli Imperiale 400 is a retro-styled cruiser styled similar to the Royal Enfield Classic series. As of now, it is the most affordable offering from Benelli in India, because of its good amount of localization. We expect future products to follow a similar type of competitive pricing structure.
Here are five highlights of the latest cruiser in the town:
1. Price
The Imperiale 400 goes for Rs 1.69 Lakhs (all prices ex-showroom Delhi). In comparison, it is around Rs 13,000 costlier than the base variant of Classic 350 and Rs 4000 costlier than the top-end Signals 350. It also goes against the Jawa 300, which comes in cheaper at Rs 1.64 Lakhs. The Imperiale is sold in India through the CKD route.

The Imperiale 400 uses a 374cc air-cooled SOHC engine that is still BS-4 compliant. The engine produces 21 BHP and 29 Nm of peak torque, making it a torquey motor. It also uses electronic fuel injection technology which will offer a better mileage. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

With a fuel tank capacity of 12 Litres, the Imperiale is expected to deliver a range of 350-400 kms. The expected mileage is around 30 kmpl. The riding range is decent enough for a cruiser.

The suspension is handled by 41mm telescopic forks at the front and pre-load adjustable dual-shock absorbers at the back. For braking, you get 300mm disc brakes at the front and a 240mm disc brake at the back paired with dual-channel ABS as standard. The Imperiale gets 19-inch tires at the front and 18-inch tires at the back.
5. Colours, Warranty and Servicing
The Imperiale is offered in three colour options – Silver, Black and Red. About the warranty, Benelli offers first-in-class 3 years/unlimited-kilometre warranty as standard. Also, the first two years of servicing is completely free. After that, you can opt for an annual maintenance contract.
