We see an increase in power output in the leaked document and there is no news about the upgradation of the diesel engine as of now
In a recently leaked document, Honda City which comes with a 1.5-litre petrol engine has successfully been certified with a BS6 by the RTO. There is no news of the diesel motor as of now but we expect it will successfully enter the Indian market post-April 2020.
The BS6 certified petrol engine of the Honda City in the leaked document churns out 87.7 kW of power at 6,600 rpm. This in total means 119 bhp of power and it can easily return a peak torque of 147 Nm. Transmission here sticks to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Talking about the current Honda City BS4 petrol engine, it produces 114 bhp along with 145 Nm of torque. The new engine will receive a power update and the torque will more or less remain the same. It also gets a 5-speed MT gearbox and further it also gets a CVT. The ARAI certified mileage of the BS4 sticks to 17.4 km/l and we will know about the mileage figures of BS6 only when it is launched.

The Honda City is also available in a diesel engine. The 1.5-litre, four cylinder, turbocharged diesel motor produces 99 bhp along with 200 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to only a 6-speed manual gearbox and no automatic is offered. We can expect the next-gen City to come with a CVT gearbox on the diesel engine too. The ARAI certified fuel efficiency of the diesel stands at 25.6 km/l.
In other news, we can expect the 2020 Honda City to come into the Indian market by next year. It will come with revised styling on the outside, updated interiors and will pack additional first in segment features too.

We can expect digital instrument cluster along with wireless charging, larger touchscreen infotainment screen and among others. The motors will also be upgraded to BS6 emission norms.
It is also expected that the new Honda City might also come with a mild-hybrid engine option. The mild-hybrid system will be paired with a petrol engine and will help in increasing the fuel efficiency.
Currently, the price of Honda City starts at Rs 10.03 lakh and the top spec model fetches up to Rs 14.4 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Once it comes with updated styling and updated engine options, the prices for the same will automatically increase. It currently rivals with the likes of Hyundai Verna, Toyota Yaris, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Rapid.
